The Pont du Gard

It is one of the wonders of antiquity, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. It is the grandest section of an aqueduct that carried the waters of Uzès to Nîmes over 50 km.

If Rome counted a thousand baths at the height of its glory, one understands that the Romans, having set their sights on Nîmes, could not make do with the Fontaine spring alone.

Today the site, handsomely laid out with a museum, exhibitions, films, a children’s area and a media library, more than delivers on the promise of an unforgettable visit.
